Grocery Stores in Lucaya and Freeport, Bahamas

Solomon's Lucaya has opened up in the Seahorse Shopping Center about one mile from Port Lucaya, toward Sunrise Highway. This will be an additional location and the Queen's Highway store will remain in operation. Their hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 8pm. Friday and Saturday 7:30am to 9pm. However on Sundays it is only open from 7:30am to 3pm. On holidays it may not be open at all or may operate on Sunday hours. See the list of holidays.

Sawyer's Fresh Market is a very popular grocery store as well. It is located on Oak Street which is off of Queen's Highway. They are only open till 2pm on Sundays.

Both stores offer specials on a weekly basis.

There is also a small grocery store on Kennedy Drive (off of Sunrise, behind Boulevard Gas Station) called Carib Market & Seafood, Moreover, there is a small general store called Cooper's which also has to go food and a gas station. This is located on Midshipman Road. They have everything from liquor to baby food. You would only patronize this store under limited choices. Their prices are very, very high. For fresh seafood aside from the grocery stores we recommend Butler Specialty Foods located on Yellow Pine Street or Lightbourne's Seafood on Queen's Highway, both in the Freeport area. Butler's has another location now on West Atlantic Drive with a full array of grocery items. You may also seek out returning fisherman for the catch of the day or crawfish (lobster), when in season.

Other grocery shops include Stop & Shop Grocers on Polaris Drive which have fairly competitive prices and are open late on Sundays. There is also the Corner Store and Meat Market which has very fresh meats on East Sunrise. In Martin Town there is Martins. You will also find many little stores such as Pinching Pennies in Hawksbill which has a variety of items but not as competitively priced, Boulevard Gas Station and other gas stations provide the basics but again not competitively priced.

Costright which is directly behind AID offers lots of bulk sale items as well as a good selection of meats and produce. They also offer household goods and clothing, medicines, vitamins etc. They are open 8am to 7pm Mon through Thurs, Fri and Sat 8am to 8pm and Sunday 12noon until 5pm.
